Overview

Early Upgrade is an optional feature in Emersion that provides service providers the ability to offer the ability to upgrades to an alternative plan before their existing contract has ended without incurring the normal contract break out fees.

Instead of contract break out fees, an early upgrades can attract its own fee. It is important to understand when using this feature, contract break out fees and early upgrade fees are different. In the case of an early upgrade, the contract breakout rules will not apply. If an early upgrade fee is not set, the system will treat it as a normal break of contract and apply those rules accordingly.

Early upgrade eligibility criteria and fees are set on a contract type. If your end user customer meets this criteria:

  • a banner notification will be displayed
  • the package subscription screen will include the upgrade button
  • an on-screen note advising early upgrade will be displayed including the early upgrade fee that is applicable.

Eligibility Criteria

Service Providers can configure or adjust the early upgrade eligibility criteria and fee for a contract type. To do this:

Nav: Packages and plans > Management > Contracts

Click on the ID of the contract type you want to change. The contract type will open.

Contract type with early upgrade fields

Remaining Month(s)

Enter the number of months that need to be remaining on the contract to be eligible to upgrade.

Fee

If an upgrade fee is entered, this fee will be charged instead of the default break out fees. If this field is left empty, the system will apply the contract break out fees.

Ineligibility Criteria

Customers cannot get an early upgrade under the following criteria:

  1. The eligibility rules and fees are not set for the contract type.
  2. The customer's current contract does not meet the criteria for an early upgrade
  3. The package is subject to a service type migration.
  4. the package subscription is subject to a normal migration.
